For Health Care Providers
Better Options Adult Family Home specializes in caring for ventilator-dependent patients in a homelike setting. Because our residents have complex medical needs, Better Options is staffed around the clock with nurses and CNA’s trained in ventilator care supported by an on-call respiratory therapist.
Clinical Services Available
In addition, Better Options provides wound care for postoperative wounds, diabetic ulcers, traumatic wounds, pressure ulcers, infected wounds, and wound pain management.
We work closely with primary care physicians, Vancouver Clinic Pulmonologists Dr. Fowler and Dr. Jura, the Coumadin Clinic of Southwest Washington Medical Center and other specialists necessary for our residents’ care. Better Options also contracts with social workers to help our residents deal with the psychological effects of being ventilator-dependent.
How We Receive New Residents
Needs Assessment & Tailored Care Plan
When a patient is referred to our facility, we review the physician’s orders. Our nursing supervisor completes a thorough needs assessment and develops a care plan with the patient and family or guardian. The referring physician reviews and approves the care plan. This plan is reviewed and updated as needed.
